HARRISON—Town Manager George “Bud” Finch said he’ll be looking for guidance from Harrison selectmen regarding the preparation of the fiscal 2016 budget at tonight’s meeting.
The current mill rate is $10.95 per $1,000 of assessed value. This equates to a 25 cent, or 2.3 percent, increase over the previous tax rate, Finch said two weeks ago at the selectmen’s meeting.
“Overall we have done well as a community to hold the mill where it has been through the implementation of productivity improvements and cost avoidance providing more with less,” Finch said. “Unfortunately without relief from the state, education or county, there is little left in the municipal side of the budget to help hold the line in the coming years.”
The town manager added that he will be prepared to discuss his concerns at the meeting and share where he sees the best opportunities are to limit increases.
The selectmen’s meeting will start at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Harrison Town Office, 20 Front St. —EP
