Mr. Toivo Piirainen

SOUTH PARIS - Toivo Piirainen of South Paris went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2008 at Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway after a short, sudden illness. Mr. Piirainen was the son of Toini and Toivo Piirainen and was known to his family as Bob.
He served in the Air Force as an air policeman in Okinawa and then returned home where he met his lovely wife to be, June Martin, whom he loved so much. They just celebrated their 57th anniversary. Mr. Piirainen worked in the woods and then worked for the Town of Norway before retiring.
He enjoyed going for rides daily with his wife and they spent much of their time traveling to weddings, graduations, etc. If there was ever anything happening with one of their girls or grandchildren they were there. When he wasn't on the road, he enjoyed staying home, mowing the lawn or just sitting on the porch with his family. He also enjoyed playing cribbage with his buddies. He was one of a kind.
Mr. Piirainen is survived by his wife; eight daughters and their spouses, Donna and Rocky MacDonald of Levant, Roberta and Tom Christian of North Carolina, Kathy Piirainen of Connecticut, Tobey and Jose Medina of Connecticut, Terri and Paula Walker of Greenwood, Toini and Toni Aulet of Massachusetts, Sheila and Tom of Norway and Nicole Daggett of North Carolina; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; one brother, Jack of California and five sisters, Katrina of Connecticut, Sandy of Connecticut, Ilona of Norway, Anita of Oxford and Fredrekia of Auburn.
He was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Ed, Eino and Ronny and two sisters, Barbara and Betty.
Funeral arrangements will be at a later date.
