PARIS—Oxford Street in South Paris will be closed all day Tuesday as a crew from the St. Lawrence and Atlantic Railroad fix the railroad crossing.

Motorists are asked to use an alternative route on Tuesday while the work is being completed. The work will center around Oxford Street near the Paris town line with Oxford, according to Town Manager Amy Bernard.

“We want people to be aware they can’t use that as a short cut [to Oxford] tomorrow,” she said by phone on Monday.

The railroad crossing at Prospect Avenue could be done by Thursday, Bernard said, depending on when the railroad crew gets the pavement for the project. St. Lawrence and Atlantic is footing the bill for the projects as the company owns the rights of way, she added. The railroad wants to fix crossings on High Street, which is a state-owned road, and Hathaway Road, but those probably won’t be done until the spring, Bernard said.
