PARIS—Police are searching for a missing Paris woman who never returned home after being discharged from a Bangor substance-abuse treatment hospital two weeks ago.
Police say 44-year old Shirley Mills of Paris Hill Road was released from Acadia Hospital in Bangor on Jan. 24 with instructions to return home to Paris in a prearranged taxicab.
Staff at the hospital reported that Mills did not want to go to Paris, and preferred to travel to Brunswick to see a friend, Police Chief Michael Madden said in a press release Tuesday.
Home-care providers alerted police to the situation after Mills failed to arrive at her home later that day. Police have been searching the home daily and say her residence appears to be in normal order.
Madden said police are following up on tips posted to Facebook and are looking to get in touch with friends’ of Mills’.
Mills is not known to family in Paris, Madden said.
Brunswick Police are assisting in the investigation.
